(Urban) Beekeeping & SMART Beehive management! (for English speakers)
Imkerschool ("The Beekeeping Academy") offers a specialised, personally tailored, small-scale and very practical professional training for those beginners and early-carreer bekeepers who are seriously interested in starting a small-scale beekeeping enterprise (max. 3 students per lesson!): We offer a complete and practice-oriented Urban Beekeeping traineeship, meaning: practical working and learning by doing, under the expert guidance of a professionally qualified teacher. In addition, get to know the latest technology, including the use of SMART beehives and sensor technology in the city, aimed at the health and well-being of city-bees!
ALL necessary equipment, books, hives, and tools are made available by Imkerschool.
You will work two-weekly under supervision of experienced international beekeeping professional(s). Step through the complete annual cycle, together with the beekeeper, in a small, enthusiastic team of serious fellow students. Immediately enter the practice, but then safely and under expert and personal guidance. During this course/internship, you work two-weekly with your regular bee colony and, if desired, walk with the beekeeper at different inspiring locations in the Amsterdam metropolitan area. The course is led by a teacher recognized by the Education Committee of the Dutch National Beekeeping Association in Wageningen with more than 25 years of (international) experience in bee practice and in higher education.
